Feb. 10th, 2005 03:19 amYou know, I'm so glad I got myself at least mostly past the "I'm not sure if I'm just mistaken" stage while I was in Canada still.
Because damn, the porn I just watched is bad enough to make anyone think they might be gay :P
On some other notes... things in Japan aren't horrible, they aren't great either, but they aren't horrible. The whole culture here -- while closeted -- is quite interesting. I'm not sure how to explain what I mean by that though. I might actually get enough courage to go out to some gay bars in Kumamoto, if I can find ones that aren't "snack" bars... who knows.
But yeah... if I can find what I want here, that'd be awesome. It's unlikely, but mehh. At the very least, I'm getting a new perspective. I'm still in the closet (beyond a few MSN contacts) -- but in Japan, that's necessary. Not out of fear, but because the truth doesn't really go out in the open in MANY aspects of Japanese life. You just smile and nod.
And I will write more on this, at some point. I am going to Tokyo on Friday, and then travelling to Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima. Hopefully I'll get back to Fukuoka (the nearest big city) in time to catch a bus back to Kumamoto, so I can go from Hiroshima to Kumamoto without needing accomodation.
I'm going to meet someone I met online for dinner while I'm there. He's a high schooler who will be writing his entrance exams. It'll be nice to not be completely alone for this ENTIRE TRIP. I just hope he doesn't get any wrong ideas (but seeing how the whole Japanese dating game works, I don't think there will be any problems).
Ok, enough babbling. Time for sleep.
